Marquette received a big-time commitment from four-star PF prospect Al Amadou on Thursday afternoon. Amadou announced his decision live on 247Sports.

    “Marquette is a basketball school”

This is an exciting commitment for Shaka Smart and the Golden Eagles. Amadou chose Marquette over St. John’s, Georgia Tech, Miami and San Diego. He attends school at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and plays AAU for Philly Pride. Amadou said Marquette’s tight-knit culture was part of his reason for choosing the Golden Eagles.

“Marquette is a basketball school, they have a plan for me, and a tight(-k)nit community, which is important to me,” he said according to a 24/7 article.

    Marquette gets coveted big

Golden Eagles coach Shaka Smart likes athletic size on the frontline. He loves long, athletic bigs and Amadou fits the mold. Amadou is 6-9 mobile and long with versatile skills. He projects to be a rim-protector and disruptive defender.

Amadou has a high-motor, but his offensive game is unpolished. He flashes shooting ability and his athletic ability and size makes him a very good rim-runner and finisher in transition.

Amadou is ranked No. 87 recruit in the country by 24/7, the only recruiting service to have him in the top-100. Others recruiting services do have him in the top-150, though.

2023 Top-150 prospect Al Amadou has committed to Marquette, he tells @On3Recruits.

    “It was an easy decision.”
