Among the teams in the top 15 of the latest AP Poll, only Marquette basketball and the Wisconsin Badgers have reached six wins this season. However, Marquette has remained undefeated despite facing Maryland on the road, top-ranked Purdue at home, and the Georgia Bulldogs in the Bahamas. Led by the super-efficient Kam Jones in the backcourt, the Marquette Golden Eagles continue to climb from their preseason AP Poll ranking of 18th but will embark on a tough three-game stretch before conference play.
Marquette basketball will travel to Ames, Iowa, on Wednesday to face the Iowa State Cyclones. The fifth-ranked Cyclones will face a Marquette team without rotational guard Zaide Lowery. On Monday, the Marquette game notes ruled out Zaide Lowery after he suffered a knee injury against Western Carolina last Saturday.
Marquette Basketball G/F Zaide Lowery Will Miss Time

According to Marquette men’s basketball beat writer for Ben Steele of @journalsentinel:
Zaide Lowery is listed as OUT with his knee injury, per Marquette’s initial game notes for Iowa State on Wednesday.

In the final minutes of Marquette basketball’s blowout win over Western Carolina last weekend, reserve guard Zaide Lowery hurt his knee, falling to the court in considerable pain. Lowery has since been seen in crutches and a brace, but head coach Shaka Smart downplayed the injury in the postgame presser. However, on Monday, Steele confirmed Lowery will miss at least one game with injury.
A sophomore, Lowery is sixth in playing time, averaging nearly 20 minutes per game. Known for his defensive presence, Lowery averages 2.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. More notably, he is averaging almost two steals per 40 minutes. Fellow sophomore Tre Norman could see an uptick in minutes with Lowery absent.
Marquette Eyeing Brutal End to Non-Con Schedule

Wednesday’s top ten clash against the Iowa State Cyclones will mark Marquette basketball’s third to final non-conference game. On Saturday, they face fellow ranked squad and in-state rival Wisconsin at the Fiserv Forum. Wisconsin leads the all-time series 71-59 and has won the last three meetings.
For the regular season non-conference finale, Marquette will visit the Dayton Flyers, the pride of the A10. Dayton is 6-2, with two narrow losses against North Carolina and Iowa State while beating the UConn Huskies in their last outing. They will have tune-up games against Western Michigan and Lehigh before facing Marquette.
