Marquette basketball junior guard Chase Ross had a night on Tuesday for the Golden Eagles. Behind Ross’ stellar night at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, the Golden Eagles staved off Ed Cooley’s Georgetown Hoyas in a 74-66 victory.
“Big win,” Ross said to the camera following the win over the Hoyas (h/t ESPN Milwaukee). “We got the job done tonight. Let’s go,” added Ross, who shot 7-for-12 from the floor and generated plenty of freebies with a 9-for-10 shooting from the foul line. He also came up huge on the defensive side of the court, grabbing three rebounds and recording a total of six steals.

Chase Ross stepped up for Marquette basketball amid teammate’s struggles
Ross saved the day for Marquette basketball, which was getting inefficient numbers from its other stars. Ben Gold shot just 1-for-8 for two points; David Joplin recorded 12 points on 3-for-9 shooting; while Kam Jones needed 14 attempts from the field to get to 11 points.
Ross’ scoring outburst against the Hoyas broke his previous career-high of 23 points during Marquette basketball’s season-opening win over the Stony Brook Seawolves on Nov. 4.
Marquette is now 14-2 overall and 5-0 in Big East play after the win over Georgetown. Up next for the Golden Eagles is a road game versus the DePaup Blue Demons on Jan. 14.
