Whether good or bad, Packers fans have hd their opinions about Davante Adams being traded away. Some fans have even took to writing directly to the Packers front office to share their opinion. On Mark Murphy’s Take Five he responded to one fan’s pretty harsh criticism of how this off-season has gone so far:
The fan expresses his discontent directly; “Not going after an established WR? You deserve to not win a Super Bowl. Got rid of the WR corps. You screwed Rodgers with his weapons.” He finished his statement with “I hope you’re fired soon.” Mark Murphy’s response was dignified and explained that Davante wanted to leave to go to Vegas. He also went on to say that he feels as though they created a situation that was good for Davante.
Does the fan have a point?
It wasn’t worded the nicely, and we certainly don’t wish anyone to be fired. However does the fan have a point about the WR corps? Green Bay has lost 2 of their top 3 wide receivers this off-season. As of April 2nd they haven’t made any moves to replace them. We still have about 5 months until Green Bay plays a real snap for the 2022 season, but as a fan it’s easy to get impatient. It is important to remember that the front office has made it abundantly clear that they acknowledge the need for wide receiver. Matt Lafleur, Brian Gutekunst, and now Mark Murphy have all made public comments about it.
Mark Murphy mentions trading for a veteran wide receiver:
“With four picks in the first two rounds, we have the draft capital to either trade for a veteran receiver or draft a top-quality receiver(s).” Green Bay is certainly not closing any doors when it comes to acquiring a wide receiver. Via trade or draft Mark Murphy is confident this receivers room will look much different in September than it does now.
