Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy is set to step down from his post with the team in July. Murphy has been the president and CEO of the Packers since 2007, overseeing Green Bay’s win in Super Bowl XLV when quarterback Aaron Rodgers led a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now Rodgers is in Pittsburgh, trying to earn the second Super Bowl of his career. Murphy has won two Super Bowls in his career. His first coming in Super Bowl XVII as a player before winning his final as an executive of Green Bay.

In his monthly Murphy Takes 5, a fan asked the outgoing CEO what his biggest regret was during his time with the Packers. Murphy wrote that he wishes Green Bay could have won another title under his leadership.

“While we enjoyed consistent success on the field during my tenure, I regret that we only made one Super Bowl appearance,” Murphy wrote. “I would have loved to win a Super Bowl with Brian Gutekunst and Matt LaFleur.

“We were close many times, and I am confident that they will break through and win a Super Bowl in the not-too-distant future.”

The Packers have a 186-104-2 record (.640 winning percentage) since Murphy took over in 2007. Green Bay made 14 postseason appearances during his span as CEO, going 13-13 in the playoffs.

Murphy is handing over a solid foundation to Ed Policy, who will take over as CEO and president before the upcoming season.

Will Policy retire with fewer regrets?
