The Green Bay Packers (10-4) had some good news on Monday morning before they were set to enter their Week 16 matchup against the New Orleans Saints (5-9).
The Packers appear to be out of the NFC North race, but they currently hold the NFC’s No. 6 seed with three games left to play. With a win over the Saints on Monday night at Lambeau Field, Green Bay can take a one-game lead over the Washington Commanders for the No. 6 seed.
Fortunately for Green Bay, the team is getting healthy before the playoffs.
The Green Bay Packers are adding an important player on Monday
Per Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, Green Bay is activating Luke Musgrave from injured reserve, and the second-year tight end will play against the Saints.
“The Packers are activating TE Luke Musgrave from injured reserve and he’ll play tonight against the Saints, per source,” Pelissero posted on X. “A remarkable return for Musgrave, who had ankle surgery in October and hasn’t played since Week 3. They’ll ease him in.”
Luke Musgrave will help the Packers’ offense
Musgrave recorded receptions for 22 yards earlier in the season. The No. 42 overall pick in the 2023 draft played a significant role for Green Bay in his rookie season, catching 34 passes for 352 yards and one touchdown.
Musgrave will help Jordan Love in the passing game, as the star quarterback likes to make use of his tight ends. Second-year tight end Tucker Kraft is the Packers’ third-leading receiver in 2024, with 41 receptions (second most on the Packers) for 555 yards and seven touchdowns.
