Luke Fickell had a great career at the University of Cincinnati. He led the Bearcats to national relevance as they became the only non-power 5 team to ever make the College Football Playoff. His move to Wisconsin is one Fickell clearly is excited about. However, as with any time anybody changes a job, it is tough to leave the old place. Luke Fickell wrote a heartfelt letter to the people of the University of Cincinnati.

Luke Fickell Pens Letter To Cincinnati
Fickell was grateful for the opportunity to coach at Cincinnati. Ohio State passed him over for their head coach position and he ended up at the University of Cincinnati. He made the most of that opportunity.
“Coaching at the University of Cincinnati has been an honor and a rewarding experience that has afforded me the opportunity to learn and grow professionally and personally.”
He went on to thank the Athletics Department of Cincinnati and all of the players. Cincinnati meant something to Fickell and while he is excited to coach the Wisconsin Badgers, it is tough to leave Cincinnati.
Wisconsin Gets A High-Character Coach
While we all want success on the field for our teams, it is often more important to have high-character people in the organization. The Packers have done this for years and it has worked out well. Wisconsin has picked a quality person to head up its team and this will pay dividends down the line. The amount of excitement around this program right now is amazing. After a rough season, to come out with this much optimism is good to see.
It was great to read Luke Fickell’s letter to Cincinnati. This hire makes me personally already excited for the next season to start.
