For the first time in the 2022-23 season, the Bucks lost a game by more than 20 points. Their eighth loss of the season came at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies, who defeated the Bucks 142-101, a 41-point loss. It was the third-worst loss for the Bucks since 2013-14, otherwise known as the Giannis era.

The Bucks twice since 2013-14 lost games by 42 points. On November 21, 2014, Toronto beat the Bucks 124-82. On October 21, 2021, the Miami Heat matched that 42-point spread with a 137-95 win over the Bucks. Both of those games were road games for the Bucks… as was the recent 41-point loss to Memphis.

20-point losses for the Bucks since 2013-14

In the Giannis era, the Bucks have now lost 47 games by 20 points or more. They lost seven games by 20+ points last season, and in their championship season, 2020-21, the team lost five games by 20+ points.

Of the 47 losses by 20+ points since 2013-14, six of those losses came at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs, most for the Bucks. The most recent win by Memphis pushed them into a three-way tie for second place in this category with four 20+ point or larger defeats of the Bucks in the Giannis era. They are tied with Miami and Toronto.

The loss to Memphis was also the seventh time since 2013-14 that the Bucks lost to the Grizzlies in Memphis. All total, the Bucks have lost 198 games on the road in the Giannis era. They have lost the most games in that timeframe to the Cavs in Cleveland, 12. Next is 11 losses in Miami to the Heat.

Road losses by the Bucks in the Giannis era

Here are the road losses for the Bucks by each opponent since 2013-14.

    12-Cleveland
    11-Miami
    10-Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte
    9-Indiana, Toronto
    8-Detroit, Houston, Utah, Washington
    7-Dallas, Memphis, Orlando, San Antonio
6-Chicago, Denver, Golden State, L.A. Clippers, New Orleans, Oklahoma City
    5-New York Knicks, Philadelphia, Phoenix
    4-Minnesota, Portland
    3-Brooklyn, L.A. Lakers
    2-Sacramento

Trouble in Utah… Houston… and Cleveland

The Bucks have had the most difficulty in road games at Utah since 2013-14. In nine road games in Utah since 2014, the Bucks are 1-8, a .111 winning percentage. That lone win came last year in a 117-11 victory for the Bucks. There are two other teams that the Bucks have played under .300 in road games since 2013-14: Houston (3-8, .273), and Cleveland (5-12, .294).
