Willy Adames is easily one of the most popular players on the current Milwaukee Brewers roster. After being traded to Milwaukee last season, he erupted at the plate. With the Brewers, Adames hit .285/.366/.521 with 20 home runs and 58 RBI. While off to a slow start this season, Adames has remained a big producer in the Brewers lineup. He already has one NL Player of the Week under his belt this season and is tied for the team lead in home runs with nine. Tomorrow, May 22, the Brewers will be giving away Willy Adames bobbleheads in their game against the Washington Nationals.
Fans Have Done a 180 on Willy Adames
All of this being said, the love that Brewers fans have for Willy Adames was not there from the beginning. In fact, many fans bemoaned the trade on social media. It all started with this tweet from Ken Rosenthal:
Today’s trade underscores just how well Padres did acquiring Trent Grisham and Zach Davies for Luis Urias and Eric Lauer. Urias has struggled, prompting trade for Willy Adames. Lauer is back in AAA. Meanwhile, Grisham is becoming a star and Pads used Davies to get Yu Darvish.

Of course, the comments of the Brewers’ own tweet were where things got really… interesting:

Oh, and that trade that Ken Rosenthal referenced? As it turns out, the Brewers won that trade, too.

Luis Urias has a 123 wRC+ over 496 plate appearances
Eric Lauer has a 2.93 ERA and 9.7 K/9 over 144.1 innings pitched
Trent Grisham has a 81 wRC+ over 524 plate appearances
Zach Davies ghosted his own wife#Brewers

If you are not familiar with the Zach Davies story, here is a quick synopsis. His wife (well, ex-wife) posted on social media that she has not spoken to Zach Davies in over a year. He left one day and never contacted her. She found out he was having an affair and was not coming home. She filed divorce papers and had to have them delivered to him because he would not answer any of her phone calls or messages. Horrible guy. Glad he’s not a Brewer.
