The current NBA season is about half done. The teams are hitting the halfway mark in their schedules and we are getting a better idea of who the teams that have a legit shot at the title are. The Milwaukee Bucks have title aspirations but have been struggling for a while now. One reason for this is the injuries, especially to Khris Middleton. There is growing frustration within the team and one NBA insider says that this could be Middleton’s last year in Milwaukee.
Khris Middleton To Test Free Agency?
In a report by Matt Moore of the Action Network, he revealed that there is no guarantee that Middleton will resign with the Bucks.
“Khris Middleton missed the start of the season recovering from injury, played seven games, and then went out again. On top of that, Middleton has a $40 million player option for next season he may decline. There has been burbling noise around the league that Middleton will, at the very least, test the market.”
Even though he has a $40 million dollar player option, Middleton could look for more in free agency. His scoring ability and perimeter defense could be a great fit for many teams.
Growing Frustration
The report from Moore also highlighted some potential chemistry issues on the Bucks’ team. Giannis Antetokounmpo has had to take on more of a load this season and the wear and tear are starting to show. Khris Middleton not being in the lineup is a big reason why. If there is growing frustration, the Bucks could also look to move on and use the money for a Middleton extension elsewhere.
It is hard to panic about this team when we haven’t seen it in its final form. The Bucks also are a candidate to make a trade before the trade deadline. This team is built for a playoff push. If they can survive these injuries and get their team back, I expect them to be fine.
