Kevin King Opens Up About Mental Health
“After my fifth year with the Packers I was actually pretty healthy. My first four years I had a surgey after every year so I didn’t have a chance to have an offseason. I really just went under the needle and then I make way back up just right to go out there and really get f—-d up next year. That’s what comes with it. We warriors. That’s what we do so we going to fight against that reagrdless. The thing with that though is that they don’t really talk about the wear and tear on your mental dealing with injuries”
-Kevin King
King said not all athletes deal with injuries to the level he did. He mentioned that every week, trying to play through injuries, got to the point where his mindset was ‘just play through it.’
“Another year or two of game day decisions, or little stuff like that, I dont know if I could’ve done that.”
-Kevin King
King’s journey was derailed by his Achilles injury. He mentioned that his little brother passed away just two days prior. Despite the obstacles in his path King said he is blessed. King said he is still processing how to feel with all the stuff going on in his life.
“Every type of adversity, every type of obsticle is going to make this story even sweeter. I’m at a point now where I don’t have to prove s–t to myself. I’m to the point where I know who I am. Its only a matter of time before things unfold how they’re supposed to unfold.”
