Zack Greinke is currently in his 20th big league season and this year he is again pitching for the Kansas City Royals. He has accomplished a lot throughout his career and on Saturday May 13, 2023 against the Milwaukee Brewers he completed a very rare feat that revolves around strikeouts.
Kansas City Royals pitcher Zack Greinke becomes fifth pitcher to accomplish this rare feat.
After striking out Brewers rookies Brice Turang and Joey Wiemer, Zack Greinke joined Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux, and Roger Clemens as the only pitchers to strike out 1,000 different players. It is incredible to see his name alongside these pitching greats!

That is now 1,000 different players Greinke has struck out in his career. He joins Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Greg Maddux and Roger Clemens as the only pitchers to accomplish that feat.

Throughout his career Zack Greinke has recorded 2914 strikeouts. 86 more punch outs will put him in the 3,000 strikeout club. If he stays healthy there is a good chance that he reaches this milestone during the 2023 season.
Currently only 19 pitchers have recorded 3,000 total strikeouts. There are two active pitchers who have accomplished this and they are Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. It will be fun to see if Greinke can join this elite club or not.
