In his last 20 games, Milwaukee Bucks’ point guard (and recent All-Star) Jrue Holiday has averaged 22.4 points per game and 7.1 assists per game.
For the season, Holiday is averaging 19.8 points per game with 7.1 assists. These numbers give Holiday a legitimate chance to end the season with a 20/7 season, 20 or more points per game and seven or more assists per game. The reason this is noteworthy is that the Bucks have never had a 20 points/7 assists player in franchise history.
Jrue Holiday had a 20/7 season with the New Orleans Pelicans
Holiday in 2018-19 with the New Orleans Pelicans had his first (and only) 20/7 season. He averaged 21.2 points and 7.7 assists for the Pelicans that season. For the record, his career-high in points per game is 21.2 from his 2018-19 season in New Orleans, and his career-high in assists is 8.0 from the 2012-13 season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The closest any Bucks’ player has gotten to a 20/7 season was back in 1970-71 when Oscar Robertson averaged 19.4 points per game and 8.2 assists per contest.
There are currently seven players in the NBA who are working on 20/7 seasons (minimum of 41 games played). The seven: Luka Doncic (Dallas), Darius Garland (Cleveland), James Harden (Philadelphia), Nikola Jokic (Denver), Damian Lillard (Portland), Ja Morant (Memphis) and Trae Young (Atlanta).
Most 20/7 seasons in NBA history
The most 20/7 seasons in NBA history belong to LeBron James with 12. Here are the players with seven or more 20/7 career seasons:
12-LeBron James
10-Oscar Robertson
9-James Harden, Russell Westbrook
7-Stephon Marbury, Gary Payton
Holiday could join this group of 32-year-olds with a 20/7 season
Jrue Holiday is in his age-32 season in the league. If he can reach the 20/7 milestone at the end of the season, he would become the 17th player age-32 or older to have a 20/7 season. The last player to have a 20/7 season at age-32 or older was just last year when James Harden averaged 22.0 points per game with 10.3 assists per game.
