With his first 40-point game of the season, Jrue Holiday broke his own Bucks record for the oldest Bucks player to score 40 or more points in a game. Jrue was the leading scorer in the Bucks overtime win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night.

Back on December 17, 2021, Holiday also scored 40 points in a loss to the Pelicans in New Orleans. Holiday was 31 years-188 days old in that game. He was 32 years-247 days old in the 40-point game versus the Celtics.

Jrue Holiday is the oldest Bucks player to score 40+ points in a game

Prior to Holiday having the two top scoring games by a Bucks player, the previous record for the oldest Bucks’ player to score 40 or more points in a game was held by Sam Cassell. He was 31 years-105 days on March 3, 2001, when he scored 40 points for the Bucks in an overtime win over Chicago.

Here are the six oldest Bucks players to score 40 or more points in a game:

Bucks players who scored 40+ points in a game in their 30’s

    Jrue Holiday, 32 years-247 days, 40 points on February 14, 2023
    Jrue Holiday, 31 years-188 days, 40 points on December 17, 2021
    Sam Cassell, 31 years-105 days, 40 points on March 3, 2001
    Khris Middleton, 30 years-206 days, 44 points on March 6, 2022
    Ricky Pierce, 30 years-108 days, 45 points on December 5, 1989
    Brian Winters, 30 years-005 days, 42 points on March 6, 1982

Michael Jordan tops the all-time list

Jrue became the 88th player in NBA history to score 40 or more points in multiple games in his thirties. Michael Jordan tops this list with 44 games with 40 or more points when he was in his 30’s. He is followed by Kobe Bryant and Steph Curry, each with 30 such games, and Larry Bird (27) and Alex English (25).

Holiday also became the 11th 30-year-old player this season in the league to score 40 or more points. It has been done 38 times in 2022-23. Damian Lillard tops this list; Lillard, who is 32, has 11 games this year where he went over the 40-point mark (in fact, he has a 50-point and 60-point game this season). LeBron James is second on the list with five 40-point games… he is 38 years old.
