An MVP takes the field for the Brewers tonight, and it’s not just Christian Yelich or Ryan Braun. It’s none other than the 2019 Korean Baseball Organization MVP, Josh Lindblom. Former Pirate is making his Brewers debut tonight versus veteran left-hander Derek Holland.
Pitching Probable: Josh Lindblom vs Derek Holland
After spending eight seasons with the Texas Rangers, Holland inked short-term deals with the White Sox, Giants, Cubs, and now he is a member of the Pirates. As an esteemed starter with the Rangers, Holland pitched 158 games with the team. Last season, he split time with the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs. He switched gears from a starter to reliever, and back again. Previously, he made seven starts with the Giants before being dealt to the Cubs where he made one start. His final start with the Cubs was disappointing as he gave up seven runs in two innings of work. Holland was signed on to a minor league contract, and made the team after Summer Camp.

Josh Lindblom: MLB to KBO star
Before going to the KBO, Lindblom spent five seasons in the MLB. What really highlights his resume is his time with the Doosan Bears in 2019. In almost 200 innings pitched Lindblom struck out 189 batters with 20 wins under his belt. Along with these stats, Lindblom had a low WHIP of .997, which means he allowed less than one walk or hit per inning pitched. Lindblom has a few pitches in his arsenal, mainly a four-seam fastball, cutter, and splitter. The Pirates lineup consists of two lefties and three switch-hitters that could bat from the left side. Lindblom’s slider/cutter hybrid has the effect to tie up left-handed hitters. After last season, the Brewers felt the need to ink an ace after the team lost a majority of its starters in the offseason. The Brewers signed Lindblom to a multi-year contract in December.
Lineup probables and notes
We should expect to see Ryan Braun in the lineup against the left-handed pitcher. Especially after his heroics yesterday, let’s see if Braun can get back-on-track. Lindblom should be cautious against Colin Moran because of the two home runs he hit last night. Moran should be well rested as he didn’t play the full game last night.
Former Brewers reliever Mike Morin was designated for assignment and was claimed by the Miami Marlins Tuesday afternoon.
