NFL Analyst Turns Up The Pressure on Packers’ Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers very clearly believe that Jordan Love remains an ascending talent, and have doubled down on building around the 26-year-old.

This fall, when Love leads the Packers’ offense onto the field, he’ll be joined by first-round pick Matthew Golden, at wide receiver, who ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.29 seconds during the NFL Combine back in March, a year removed from Green Bay dropping former rushing champion Josh Jacobs alongside him in the backfield.

Meanwhile, tight end Tucker Kraft continues to make big strides towards becoming one of the game’s most feared tight ends, and the offensive line in front of Love should be improved in 2025, as well, signaling a potential breakout for the three-year starter.

However, one NFL analyst believes that Love faces mounting pressure beginning this season.

Packers’ Jordan Love has ‘Much to Prove’

Love guided the Packers to a playoff berth last season, while passing for 3,389 yards with 25 touchdowns to 11 interceptions, while appearing in 15 games after suffering a foot injury in the season-opener in brazil that seemed to dog him for much of the 2024 campaign.

Still, ESPN’s Courtney Cronin suggests that Love has the most to prove this fall, among NFC North quarterbacks.

“The Packers gave Love a $220 million contract ($55 million a year) last July,” Cronin writes for ESPN. “After he turned in a strong second half during his first season as a starter in 2023. That salary alone demands better, more consistent play from a quarterback entering his sixth season in the NFL (third as a starter), and it’s problematic that the same concerns around his game continue to surface.

“It’s difficult to assess how much of that was due to injury — he missed two full games — versus regression in 2024, but with the same offense, same playcaller and upgraded offensive weapons, Love doesn’t get any more passes. The playoffs are the expectation in Green Bay.”

There is no doubt that the Packers need to see Love bounce back if Green Bay is going to return –at least– to the NFC Divisional Round that they barnstormed to in 2023.

However, the lingering question remains; how much was Love’s minor step back in 2024 the result of playing through an injury that impacted his mechanics for much of the season and how much was the offense’s struggles due to a receiving corps that never quite found its footing.

Green Bay is about to find out, and is likely hoping that it didn’t buy high on Love and that his, and his increasingly youthful supporting cast’s best football is in front of them.
