There’s plenty of reason to be optimistic about the Packers‘ ascent into the realm of Super Bowl contenders out of the NFC, in 2025.

Whether it’s the defense making major strides in coordinator Jeff Hafley’s second season, or the arrival of speedy rookie receiver Matthew Golden into a receiving corps in desperate need of a difference-making playmaker, and Jordan Love making strides in his development, expectations are rightfully high in Green Bay.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) takes a snap from offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (74) during the eighth practice of training camp on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Ray Nitschke Field in Ashwaubenon, Wis.

However, as CBS Sports NFL analyst Cody Benjamin points out, Love holds the majority of the Packers’ cards this season.

“Love can’t contain his inner Brett Favre,” Benjamin writes, as the Packers’ worst-case scenario for this season. “Forfeiting the rock to frustrate LaFleur, and the youthful receiving corps remains too mercurial to go deep in January as the Packers barely miss the playoffs in the tough North.”

Last season, Love tossed 11 interceptions, for the second consecutive year, and if Love reverts to his gunslinging tendancies it does seem like the kind of thing that could lower the ceiling on the Packers’ offense and Green Bay’s celing this season.
