The Aaron Rodgers saga of the 2021 offseason is all-too-well documented. The three-time MVP has been a reliable participant in OTA’s throughout his career. This year, however, as his feud with the front office continues, he decided to skip the voluntary drills and vacation in Hawaii instead. As a result, Jordan Love has been getting more reps and attention from the coaching staff; and it is really going well.

The Famous Hard Count
Aaron Rodgers, of course, is very well known for his ability to draw defenders offsides using a hard count. With a so-called “free play,” he is able to take more risky throws down field knowing that if they fail, the play will come back to the Packers anyway. It appears that this skill has been picked up by Jordan Love as well:
Jordan Love just used his hard count to get someone to jump during team drills. Wonder where he learned that from. 🤔

Other Players Have Noticed
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the other Packers’ players have noticed a difference in Jordan Love as well. Aaron Jones reportedly said that Love is much more mature and confident in the huddle. Love’s release on his passes has come a long way, which has pass catchers like Robert Tonyan turning their heads. All of this, amazingly, has been accomplished without a single starting wide receiver from last season present. Davante Adams, MVS, and Allen Lazard have all opted not to attend OTA’s. So have veterans Devin Funchess and EQ St. Brown. Love has not had the best talent to work with, and yet has impressed so far in camp.

What Does This Mean for Aaron Rodgers?
Nothing. The Packers still desire Aaron Rodgers to be their starting quarterback in 2021 and beyond. Just how far beyond 2021 remains to be seen, and is a large part of the disconnect between the two parties. For now, while fans wait to see if Rodgers will show up for mandatory team activities on Tuesday, Jordan Love will be getting the first-team snaps. And he is looking really good.
