Ever since the Adam Schefter report came out on Draft Night that Aaron Rodgers wanted out of Green Bay, the name of Jordan Love has not been far behind any conversation surrounding the situation.  When Rodgers was absent for OTA’s, Jordan Love took most of the snaps with the players who were there.  Now that Rodgers is absent from mandatory mini camp, Love is getting reps with the offensive starters for the first time.

    Love’s Performance At Practice

After a rough first day of camp that had many fans disgruntled even more, Love put on a clinic in practice today.

What a stretch for Jordan Love:

    * Wheel route to AJ Dillon right sideline for 30 yards.

    * Free play deep to Lazard for 45.

    * Deep corner route to Juwann Winfee for 30.

    * Deep sideline to Aaron Jones for 30.

He was so 🔥 that TE coach Justin Outten started fanning him.

The above sequence came after a hot start to the team practice for Jordan Love:

Love found MVS over the middle for 1st Down, then a wide-open Tonyan in the flat for another. First two passes in Team.

Obviously, Jordan Love is becoming more comfortable in the offense.  According to reports, he is still believed to have a ways to go in his development.  However, it is encouraging that he has already come so far after struggling mightily last season.

Love Addresses the Media after Practice

After practice today, Jordan Love addressed the media via Zoom.  Of course, the current QB1 for the Packers was asked about the Aaron Rodgers situation.  To the surprise of many, Love revealed that he and Rodgers had talked shortly before Love came back to Green Bay.

Jordan Love on the Aaron Rodgers situation:

"Obviously me and Aaron, we've got a good relationship. I spoke to him probably a week before I got here."

    — Eli Berkovits (@BookOfEli_NFL) June 9, 2021

This confirms what Aaron Rodgers had stated in his interview with Kenny Mayne.  During that interview, Rodgers said that he had a great relationship with Jordan, and enjoyed working him him.  Rodgers claimed that, while he was surprised by the pick, the situation between him and the front office was never about the pick.

He continued to field questions about how he is preparing this offseason.

jordan love says his mindset hasn’t changed — he’s getting himself ready for anything and everything, including a potential starting job, “whether aaron’s here or not here.”

This should not be a surprise to anyone.  Any football player is going to try to be the best they can be and shoot up the depth chart.  Jordan Love knows his role, but his goal is not be a backup for the rest of his career.  Whenever the time comes for him to start, he wants to be ready.
