Jordan Davis announced right after the season that he would be entering the transfer portal. It wasn’t a big surprise as he began the season in the starting lineup before being moved to the bench in favor of freshman phenom Connor Essegian. He only averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds a game for the Badgers. After entering the transfer portal, Jordan Davis revealed his transfer destination today.

Jordan Davis Announces Transfer Destination
Davis won’t have to change his color scheme at all. He announced that he would be transferring to Illinois State University which also uses red and white jerseys. The three-year veteran will join the Missouri Valley Conference as he tries to have a bounce-back year. This conference has gotten a lot of national attention in the past couple of years with Loyola making a Final Four a couple of years ago. This year’s tournament especially showed that you do not have to be a big-name program to make some noise in the tournament.

Good For Both Sides
Jordan Davis was living in the shadow of his brother Johnny who became a lottery pick. The expectations that were put on him were not fair. He is a quality player but not the same as his brother. He needed the reset button of the transfer portal. Wisconsin now does not feel the pressure of having to manage those expectations. They also can play their young players moving forward without having to find minutes for Davis. Overall, this is a win-win for both sides.
Next season will be an interesting one for the Badgers. Greg Gard needs to show improvement after last season’s epic collapse in the second half of the season. They have done well in the transfer portal themselves and on the recruiting trail so there is hope that next season will be much better.
