Green Bay Packers fans are not exactly the biggest fans of ESPN football analyst Adam Schefter. This is, of course, due to the untimely reporting he did of Aaron Rodgers’ feud with the front office prior to the 2021 season. Since then, fans have taken Schefter’s reports with a grain of salt, choosing instead to follow reports of Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. On Thursday, former Packers fullback John Kuhn had a hilarious comment regarding Schefter when discussing another Schefter snafu on his show “Nine 2 Noon” on 97.3 The Game.
John Kuhn Compares Adam Schefter to the 2022 Green Bay Packers
Kuhn and former Wisconsin Badgers basketball player Brian Butch were discussing the head coach hires of the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. Denver hired Sean Payton while Houston hired DeMeco Ryans. There were conflicting reports about the timing of the hirings and the interest in Ryans by the Broncos. Butch and Kuhn laid out the timeline of the reports, ending with a hilarious comparison:
Kuhn: “Ian Rapoport came out and said it was Denver who heated up the talks with DeMeco Ryans. DeMeco Ryans chose Houston. Sean Payton was the second choice for Denver. The draft picks probably had something to do with that.”
Butch: “What did Schefty have to say on that?”
Kuhn: “I don’t know. What did Schefty have to say on that?”
Butch: “The complete opposite. It was pretty comical to be honest.”
Kuhn: “Schefty’s been on a rough stretch.”
Butch: “So this is how it played out: Rapoport came out and says, ‘Unbelievable! Broncos spent today trying to hire DeMeco Ryans. When he came to terms with the Texans, they moved to finalize Sean Payton.’ That was at 4:42 yesterday. Adam Schefter: ‘Timing of today’s two hires was completely coincidental. The Broncos were zeroed in on Sean Payton and didn’t make any contact this week with DeMeco Ryans or his agent. They were focused on Payton, and Houston on Ryans.’ 4:55 PM yesterday. Isn’t funny? This whole thing they’re trying to do with these guys. It’s like, who do you trust more? And I’m losing more respect for Schefter. I feel like ESPN is forcing so much of this.
Kuhn: “I just think it’s funny to watch. Rough stretch here. He’s struggling. He’s like the Packers midway through the season, he’s lost seven of eight.”
Butch: “Is he on a must win right now?”
Kuhn: “He’s in must win territory. Not mathematically, but he’s got to turn this thing around!”
