Joey Wiemer was left off of the Milwaukee Brewers opening day roster, but was called up for the team’s second game. Since then he has collected a hit in every contest. This currently equates to a seven game hitting streak, which ties B.J. Surhoff for the franchise’s longest hitting streak to begin a career.

When not mashing extra base hits, Wiemer is finding ways to collect hits with his legs. He is very fast and in Friday’s game against the Cardinals, to extend his hitting streak to six games, he beat a 3-0 pitch into the dirt and back to the pitcher but was safe at first due to his speed.
The youngster has had a dream start to his Major League career and this hitting streak is a part of that. Hopefully he can keep it going for one more game so that he can set a Brewers franchise record. His next chance may come Sunday afternoon in the series finale against the Cardinals.
