To begin the 2023 regular season outfield prospect Joey Wiemer was left off of the Milwaukee Brewers opening day roster. After one game a report from Robert Murray has now indicated that the team will promote him to the big leagues.

While not official, this move likely signals that Luis Urias will be heading to the injured list. He sustained a hamstring injury on opening day after diving head first into first base during his last at-bat in the ninth inning. Brian Anderson, who started in right field, will likely shift over to third base as a result.
Per Robert Murray, Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Joey Wiemer is being promoted to the Major Leagues.
Wiemer has quickly risen up the prospect ranking boards since being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB draft. In both his 2021 and 2022 MiLB seasons he hit at least 20 home runs and stole 30 bases. Defensively he can play all over the outfield and has a cannon for an arm.
During spring training this year, Joey Wiemer logged 42 at-bats and slashed .262/.319/.429 with one double, two home runs, and four RBI. It will be interesting to see what he can make of this opportunity with the Brewers if the report is indeed true.

The Brewers and Cubs play again on Saturday afternoon. Expect an official announcement from the Brew Crew before then.
