Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 1 schedule should be one of the most anticipated in all of the history of NFL opening week as it will match up their new quarterback Aaron Rodgers against his former team the New York Jets who has a new coach in Aaron Glenn.

Rodgers found a new home in the Jets after his legendary stint with the Green Bay Packers with whom he won four MVPs and one Super Bowl. His arrival to the Big Apple came with much fanfare but the seasons he played were below average.
The team did not make the playoffs in those two seasons and Rodgers played just 18 games with. He played only once in 2023 after tearing his Achilles in the first week.
The separation was expected after the two failed season and Woody Johnson said they made the right decision to sign him despite the results.

“The experiment was a good experiment it just didn’t work out,” Johnson told reporters in April.
“I have a lot of respect for Aaron and I’m sorry it didn’t work out but we had to make a choice. And I think we made the right choice.”
Aaron Glenn is not focused on Aaron Rodgers
While the anticipation for Rodgers’ return to MetLife Stadium, Jets new head coach Aaron Glenn has a different feeling.
To him, it is just one of many games they need to focus on, just as important as every other game on their schedule.
“This is the NFL,” Glenn told reporters on Sunday.

“And, to me, every game there’s a lot of noise because they’re so critical — as far as wins and losses. We want to try and accumulate as many wins as we can, and I don’t care who that opponent is.”
The Jets’ will be Glenn’s first ever stint as a head coach. It was previously speculated that Glenn had a say in cutting ties with Rodgers.
Right now, the Steelers are favorites to win against New York.
