The Packers defense is coming off a season where they ranked in the top ten WITHOUT their best player, cornerback Jaire Alexander for 13 games. Imagine how good this defense will be with him being back in the fold.
Alexander is coming off a shoulder injury a year ago but also a contract extension: four years, $84 million.
Jaire Alexander Spoke About His Return
“Sometimes perspective is needed”, Alexander said in an interview earlier this week. But there is no doubt the competitive fire still runs through his veins.
A loaded defense with fellow cornerbacks Eric Stokes and Rasul Douglas as well as linebacker D’Vondre Campbell will only be boosted.
With many question marks surrounding the offense and special teams, expectations for the Packers defense are high.
The team will go as far as the defense takes them. Coming off a disappointing loss to the 49ers last postseason, that’s all the motivation they need to be great.
Once Jaire Alexander gets some game reps under his belt, he will return to his old form. Bold prediction: Alexander will win Defensive Player of the Year, assuming he’s 100% healthy and plays the majority of the year.
NFC teams: you’re on notice this year.
