Since moving Jackson Chourio to center field, the Brewers have been bitten by some growing pain during his transition. Against the Rays, his first career error resulted in a run scoring in what ended up being a one-run loss. A few days later, a misplay against the Guardians led to three runs scoring as a result.
Despite these lows, Chourio has continued to man center field in the absence of Garrett Mitchell and Blake Perkins, and on Sunday’s finale against the Twins he saved the day with his first career home run robbery.
Jackson Chourio saves the day for the Brewers with a stunning home run robbing catch against the Twins

With Milwaukee holding onto a two run lead in the eighth inning, Royce Lewis stepped up to bat for the Twins. Having already hit a home run earlier in the game, Lewis launched what looked like a game tying shot into left center field. However, Chourio had other plans as he managed to bring the baseball back into the park.

1st career home run robbery

Opportunities to rob home runs don’t come around often, and making the most of them is even rarer. For Chourio, his first came after a long wait. Before pulling off his first career home run robbery against the Twins, he had logged 1,926.1 innings in center field and 70.0 in right field in the minors, along with 882.1 innings in the outfield at the Major League level.
While Chourio’s transition to center field has come with its share of mistakes, Sunday’s game showed exactly why the Brewers are sticking with him. His game-saving home run robbery against the Twins was not just a highlight-reel moment, but proof that he is an elite defender.
