Is Giannis Antetokounmpo the best player in the NBA?

Giannis Antetokounmpo has put together another incredible season, but more so, an incredible second half to the season.  In Milwaukee’s win over Brooklyn we saw many examples of how is game has evolved over the years.  Giannis hit a three point shot late in the 4th quarter to tie it the game at 110.  He also hit two free throws with 3 seconds left in overtime to give the Bucks the eventual win 120-119.  Those two things may not happen 3-4 years ago.

    The Three Point Shot:

This comes just two days after Giannis blocked Joel Embiid to win the game in Philadelphia.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the first NBA player to have back-to-back games with at least 40 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 60.0% shooting since Wilt Chamberlain from December 20-22, 1963.  He did it in two of the biggest games of the season to date.  It was also Giannis’ 7th game of 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists of the season.  More than anyone else in the NBA this year.

Some absolutely insane stats from this year:

    unnamed file

Giannis last 2 games (against Eastern Conference Playoff teams)

    At Sixers:

    • 40/14/6
    • 67 FG%
    • Game-clinching block
    • Win

    At Nets:

    • 44/14/6
    • 67 FG%
    • Game-tying three to send to OT
    • Game-winning FTs in OT
    • Win

Giannis’ last ten games of the season as of April 1st, 2022:

    • 44 PTS – 14 REB – 6 AST
    • 40 PTS – 14 REB – 6 AST
    • 30 PTS – 11 REB – 4 AST
    • 25 PTS – 17 REB – 5 AST
    • 36 PTS – 10 REB – 2 AST
    • 30 PTS – 15 REB – 4 AST
    • 31 PTS – 8 REB – 3 AST
    • 43 PTS – 12 REB – 5 AST
    • 39 PTS – 7 REB – 7 AST

Giannis since James Harden said he only “runs and dunks”:

James Harden addresses the comments Giannis made during the All-Star draft about assists: “I average more assists him than him, I think….I don’t see what the joke is.”

Later: “But I wish I could just run and be 7 feet and just dunk.” https://t.co/vRKMXpr3Wp pic.twitter.com/ecOzFoDsiQ

    • Finals MVP
    • MVP
    • DPOY
    • 3x All-Star
    • Three time 1st Team All-NBA
    • 3x 1st Team All-Defense
    • All-Star Game MVP
    • Iconic Finals block
    • Iconic Finals alley-oop
    • 50-piece to win Finals
    • Top 3 MVP & DPOY this year

Potential Resume by 27 if Milwaukee wins the title this year and Giannis wins MVP:

Giannis could potentially have the best resume by age 27 we have ever seen:

    🔺3x MVP
    🔺2x NBA CHAMPION
    🔺2x FINALS MVP
    🔺6x ALL STAR
    🔺1x ALL STAR MVP
    🔺2x DPOY
    🔺1x Scoring Title
    🔺MIP
    🔺4x ALL NBA FIRST TEAM
    🔺2x ALL NBA SECOND TEAM
    🔺4x ALL NBA DEFENSIVE TEAM

That type of resume by the age of 27 would be not only unheard of, but hard to ever replicate.  After this past weekAntetokounmpo’s MVP odds have improved from 12-1 to 5-1 this week.  This makes him the third choice behind Jokic (-200) and Embiid (+200) at Caesars Sportsbook. No other player has MVP odds better than 60-1 (Phoenix guard Devin Booker) at Caesars Sportsbook.

NBA Players giving Giannis the Crown of best in the league:

The Greek is the MVP and Defence of player of the year speak on it Best player in the NBA

    — Paul Pierce (@paulpierce34) April 1, 2022

I think it’s safe to say that Giannis has taken over the throne of being the BEST PLAYER in the NBA!!! Carry the hell on… #RealMambaMentality

    — Kendrick Perkins (@KendrickPerkins) April 1, 2022

(Even Though Shannon Sharpe is a football plater):

To whom it may concern: Giannis is currently the NBA’s best player. Don’t give me he can’t shoot the 3, doesn’t have a mid range gm, all he does is dunk or isn’t a gr8 ft shooter. Give credit when and where it’s DUE…

    — shannon sharpe (@ShannonSharpe) April 1, 2022

(Not a football player or basketball player):

I legit feel for KD… he had to be 2nd best to LeBron for a decade and the MOMENT he might’ve passed LeBron, Giannis passed him.

2nd player out of high school. 2nd pick in the draft. 2nd best player in the NBA for life. Legit awful luck.

At the end of the day…

2014: “Maybe in 15-20 years my number is up there next to Kareem”

    — Nathan Marzion (@nathanmarzion) April 1, 2022

Giannis is doing things on the court that we have never seen before.  He legitimately should be the MVP of the league, he IS the most dominant player in the league. It’s Giannis’ league folks, we’re just living in it.  Milwaukee fans are lucky to have him and we are more appreciative of having him than people may realize.  He has changed the face of basketball in the state of Wisconsin
