Aaron Jones is a free agent, the Packers and Jones have been in contact about a possible contract extension. However no contract has been signed between both sides. It’s been rumored that Jones and The Packers don’t agree on guaranteed money.
The Franchise Tag
The meaning of the franchise tag is a mechanism teams are allowed to use to keep franchise designated players off the unrestricted or restricted free agency market. The Packers still have their franchise tag available. Jones could be a great option for the tag. According to sources their is a good possibility that he will be franchised tagged by the Packers. Nothing is final at this time. The 2021-2022 salary cap will be a big factor in who the Packers sign.
