Jaire Alexander would be the first to tell you how good he is. He would probably tell you he’s the best corner in the NFL. There’s nothing wrong with this as his confidence fuels his great play. Since day one Alexander has done nothing but go out and compete with every teams best wide receiver. However, he has yet to make an all pro list or a pro bowl. Could 2020 be the year.
Numbers
Every team that plays the Packers makes sure to note how they have to prepare for Alexander. Since entering the league Alexander has 28 passes defended and three interceptions. Alexander came in and quickly changed the Packers secondary. The unit went from near the bottom of the league to a great group led by Jaire. However, Alexander knows that even he can be better. If he wants to make a pro bowl he will need to get his interception numbers up. When asked in an interview on August 10th how he would go about that he simply replied with, “just catch the ball.” Alexander has the swagger and confidence, and is already viewed as a top corner by his peers. His interception numbers are the only thing that seem to be holding him back.
Something to Prove
Jaire Alexander probably doesn’t care what others think about his game as long as he goes out and continues to be shutdown. However, if there was ever a year where he could show the league what he can do, this is the year. Assuming health. the Packers have a tough gauntlet of number one wide receivers coming up this year. The list includes:
- Adam Thielen x2
- Kenny Golliday x2
- Michael Thomas
- Julio Jones
- Mike Evans
- Brandin Cooks
- Deebo Samuel
- Allen Robinson x2
- D.J Moore
- A.J Brown
That list consists of some of the top talent at wide receiver across the league. Jaire will have his hands full all season. If people don’t already know who he is, his chance to put the league on notice is right now.
