Christian Yelich hit another clutch home run against the Cubs last night. It will never get old. Each team’s offense was neck-and-neck with each other until the Cubs pulled ahead 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. It wasn’t until the next half-inning when Yelich came up clutch with a three-run home run. Josh Hader shut it down as the Brewers won 4-3. This afternoon’s pitching matchup is Adrian Houser and right-handed pitcher Colin Rea.
Introducing Colin Rea
Fastball, cutter, curveball, and changeup. Those pitches are what the Brewers’ offense will see from Rea in this afternoon’s game. Primarily a fastball thrower, Rea has adopted a changeup this season. In his 28 career games he has started 25 of those with the San Diego Padres and Miami Marlins. Rea has pitched in two games out of the bullpen, but today will be his starting debut with the Cubs. There are some gaps in his resume though, not pitching on a major league team since 2016, and never facing the Brewers before. Tommy John surgery wiped out his 2017 season, and he has been on minor league clubs ever since. Rea has three scoreless innings of work from the Cubs’ bullpen this season.
Houser looks to bounce back
Adrian Houser is coming off his first loss of the season against the Minnesota Twins. He gave up four runs on six hits in five innings on Monday. In seven career appearances against the Cubs, Houser has a 4.86 ERA in 16 ⅔ innings. He is 1-1 on the year with a 2.65 ERA. Adrian Houser and the Brewers look to build from last night’s momentum.
