Home Runs Fuel Crucial Win For Brewers

Following a close loss last night, the Brewers took game two of the series against the Twins.  They were powered by four home runs from Manny Piña, Avisaíl García, and Jedd Gyorko. Devin Williams takes the win, while Taylor Rogers earns the loss.

Rosario Causes Rough Night for Lindblom

Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario continues to tear apart Brewers’ pitchers. After hitting a grand slam in game one, Rosario would hit a solo shot in the first inning, and a two-run shot in the third inning, both off of Lindblom. Those would be his only hits of the night, finishing 2-for-5. As for Lindblom, he would only go four innings, throwing 88 pitches. He allowed all four of the Twins’ runs (the fourth would come on a solo home run by Jorge Polanco), giving up seven hits and striking out eight in the process.

The Twins weren’t the only team to hit home runs last night. Outfielder Avisaíl García, catcher Manny Piña, and first baseman Jedd Gyorko were responsible for the Brewers’ six runs, all scored on home runs. In the bottom of the first, García hit his first Brewers’ home run into the left field bleachers, his first of three hits in last night’s game. Piña left the yard two times, a solo home run in the fifth inning, and a game-tying two-run home run in the sixth. He’d finish the night with three hits, as well. Gyorko stepped to the plate in the eighth inning and smoked a game-winning two-run home run to left-center off of Twins’ closer Taylor Rogers, pushing the score to 6-4. Gyorko would go 2-for-4 in his first start since August 6th.

After tonight’s win, the Twins and Brewers will square off one more time to end the series tomorrow. Game time is at 6:10 PM CDT. Eric Lauer looks to recover from his last outing in tomorrow’s game, going up against Kenta Maeda. Maeda is 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA, while Lauer enters tomorrow 0-1 with a 9.53 ERA.
