The Green Bay Packers have done an excellent job building through the NFL Draft in recent years.
General manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers have added a young and ascending receiving corps around quarterback Jordan Love, whose supporting cast has an average age of just 23.5, with the cap space to add a top-of-the-market impact receiver to lift the offense to new heights in 2025.
Likewise, rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper was a revelation in 2024, and has the upside to be an explosive disruptive force in coordinator Jeff Hafley’s system for years to come.
Packers Linebacker Could Be Top Offseason Priority

As free agency approaches, there is one player–according to Pro Football Focus, who Gutekunst and the Packers must prioritize keeping in the fold.
PFF’s Dalton Wasserman suggests linebacker Eric Wilson is the free agent that the Packers can’t afford to lose and should be a top priority to re-sign this offseason.
“The Packers have major questions at linebacker, aside from standout rookie Edgerrin Cooper,” Wasserman writes for PFF. “Wilson represents a good depth option who flashed some play-making ability across his 559 snaps in 2024.”

During his ninth NFL season, and third in a Packers uniform, Wilson produced 72 total tackles with two sacks, seven tackles for loss, and one interception.
Gutekunst and the Packers begin this offseason with upwards of $36.4 million in cap space to continue building, which shouldn’t be a hurdle to keeping Wilson around.
As the Packers continue to build out the front-seven, including around Cooper as a centerpiece of the linebacking corps, Wilson’s big-play prowess make him a strong veteran leadership presence and consistent contributor worth keeping in Green Bay.
