The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team is certainly off to a great start to the season. Big Ten play has subsequently started off well with a win versus ranked Maryland and a thrilling overtime victory at Iowa. One thing has been consistent across all the games. All of them are coming down to the wire. The Badgers have been playing in one-possession games all season. After tonight’s nail-biting win, head coach Greg Gard has a new nickname for the team, “Team Drama”.

Greg Gard Dubs Badgers “Team Drama”
The Badgers are making a habit of playing close games. After their first three wins were by double digits, Wisconsin has been in close games ever since. Even in their losses, they are keeping it close. The margin of victory in the last seven games has been five points or less. Two of those games have gone into overtime both resulting in Wisconsin wins. It is no wonder head coach Greg Gard is dubbing them “Team Drama”.
Close Game Experience Will Pay Off Later
As a fan, these close games are nerve-wracking. However, victories like these are good for the Badgers in the long run. Playing in close games is hard. Hitting shots under pressure and getting necessary stops are difficult. These types of situations are hard to replicate in practice and the experience can only be gained by playing in close games. Wisconsin is getting the experience early in the season. Somewhere down the line whether in the Big Ten tournament or the NCAA tournament, this experience will pay off.
The Badgers are certainly looking good at 8-2 under Greg Gard. They have shown some great defense and individual players have hit some big shots in big moments. They look to subsequently keep the momentum going as Lehigh comes to Madison on Thursday.
