The NFL is expected to award the opportunity to host the 2022 NFL Draft to the Green Bay Packers and the Green Bay metro area. Green Bay will become just the 12th city to host the NFL Draft. More and more cities are getting opportunities to host the Draft since the NFL decided to move the draft from year to year. From 1965-2014, the NFL Draft had been hosted at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Green Bay hosting the Draft marks the first time it will take place in Wisconsin since Milwaukee hosted it in 1940. Since the Draft went on the road, it has been hosted by Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, and Nashville. This year’s Draft will be in Las Vegas. 2021 will see the Draft in Cleveland.
The economic benefits of hosting the NFL Draft could be substantial for Green Bay. In 2017, Philadelphia claimed that the draft created a $94 million economic boost. In 2018, Dallas made $125 million off of the Draft. Profits of these amounts could really benefit Green Bay and the surrounding area!
