Aaron Rodgers‘ departure from the Green Bay Packers has dropped the team’s prestige this offseason, but the city seems to be doing just fine with the legendary quarterback in New York. The Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets last month. Since then, the Packers’ playoff odds with Jordan Love as the starter are low as he and the team enter a season of unknowns.
Green Bay is ranked number 1 after Rodgers moves away
Green Bay, on the other hand, is thriving. The city recently earned the number one ranking in the “best places to live” category in the U.S. New & World Report survey. The rankings take into account the quality of life in Green Bay, desirability, the job market, and the value of living in the city. Green Bay earned its highest score for the overall value. The article listed the many great activities people can enjoy in Green Bay. Molly Crosby was undoubtedly excited to share them with Simone Biles last week.
The article spelled out one of the major pulls to Green Bay, and they don’t fit the criteria of a certain 39-year-old quarterback:
“This city boasts a thriving entertainment and arts scene, revitalized downtown, and two college campuses, creating an energy that may appeal to young families as well as retirees.”
Rodgers was 90 percent retired early this offseason but decided he still wanted to be a career man. He’s neither a big family man nor retired yet. Maybe when he’s done with the Jets, Green Bay might fit his style. Rodgers has said he’s been excited about the opportunities and the food scene a big city like New York can offer him after 18 years of getting used to the small-town setting.
That setting is apparently doing just fine without him.
The downtown has certainly been revitalized this offseason. Lukas Van Ness was drafted to help bolster the Packers’ pass rush this season. Two new tight ends and wide receiver Jayden Reed are expected to create an entertaining offense in the future. Their energy should be infectious to the local population in the best-ranked city in the country.
