“Poverty Franchise;” Green Bay Packers Fans Roast Za’Darius Smith, Lions for NFC North Ring Social Media Post

Earlier today, it was announced that former Green Bay Packers safety Micah Hyde has announced his retirement from the NFL. In a recent article about his announcement, it was stated that many Packers fans still followed Hyde and other former players after they left Green Bay because of the grit and determination with which they played the game.

The same can be said of players who quit on the Packers. Fans still follow their careers in hopes that they continue to make a fool of themselves and their current teams.

One of these players, and perhaps the best recent example, is current Detroit Lions pass rusher Za’Darius Smith.

And his latest social media post had the Green Bay faithful laughing hysterically at his expense.

There is a reason Green Bay is known as Titletown. With 13 NFL titles, which includes four Super Bowl victories, the Packers have more championships than any team in league history. While winning divisions and playoff games are nice, the only thing that matters is winning it all.

Green Bay does not hang banners for division championships. They do not commemorate NFC Championship appearances. They only recognize and remember league titles.

Which is why Smith’s latest social media post was seen as absolutely pathetic by Packers fans:

As one can see, the Lions had NFC North Championship rings made for their players after a successful 15-2 regular season gave them their second consecutive division title.

Last year, they won the North for the first time, and it was their first division championship since 1993.

This postseason, they were sent home in the Divisional Round, their first playoff game of the year, by the Washington Commanders.

In other words, they won the same number of playoff games as the Packers: zero.

As mentioned, Packers fans only care about Super Bowls, just like the organization does. Seeing a former player so excited about a division championship ring, posted from vacation on a beach, was too easy to make fun of:

LMFAOOOO this is so corny https://t.co/Exp5nSqBZf

Having a banner for winning a division/making the playoffs is bad enough, but how about a division championship ring????? https://t.co/kk8DBMXoWg

    Division championship ring hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahaahahah

Lions, forever and always a poverty franchise https://t.co/sib6fT9Gg4

Not only have they only begun seeing success in the division just recently, the Lions also have not won an NFL Championship since 1957.

Division titles are all they have.
