The Green Bay Packers selected wide receiver Matthew Golden in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft from the Texas Longhorns. It was the first time since 2002 that Green Bay decided to draft a wide receiver in the NFL Draft.

A lot of Packers fans were thrilled with the selection. On Friday, they will have the 54th overall pick in the second-round and they will have the 87th overall pick in the third-round. One player who was projected to be drafted in the first round was Michigan Wolverines cornerback Will Johnson. He slipped because of injuries. Is there a chance that the Packers could draft him on the second day of the NFL Draft?
Green Bay Packers Insider Thinks Will Johnson Could Be In Play In Round 2

With the first-round of the 2025 NFL Draft over, there will be many talented players on the board available on the second day of the 2025 NFL Draft. Green Bay will have two selections on Friday night. With the Packers drafting a wide receiver on day one, expect them to lean toward defense on day two.
Matt Schneidman of The Athletic listed different players who could be available to Green Bay on the second day. Schneidman thinks that there is a possibility that the Wolverines star cornerback could slip all the way down to 54. If that happens, there is a good chance that Gutekunst may just use the pick on him. Schneidman said,
“Potentially the second-best cornerback in the draft behind Travis Hunter, Johnson would make the Packers more comfortable with trading or releasing Jaire Alexander, though multiple national reports Thursday night said Johnson fell because of concern surrounding his knee.”
If they were to select Johnson, there is a chance that they may not be getting rid of Alexander so fast anyways. Green Bay was listening to offers for Alexander, but it may mean that they could also hang onto him for another season despite injuries. When healthy, this could potentially be the steal of the draft if available at 54.
However, the Cleveland Browns and the Chicago Bears will each have two picks within the first top 10 choices of the second-round. Johnson is 6’2″ and weighs 202 lbs. He recorded 14 tackles, two interceptions, two touchdowns, and three pass deflections during the 2024 college football season with Michigan. If Green Bay can’t get Johnson in the second-round, a defensive lineman or another cornerback could be in the cards in the second round also.
