Green Bay Packers Named In Massive Trade That Brings Former Player Back To Lambeau

The Green Bay Packers are in the middle of a franchise-altering off-season.  After over one month of negotiating, the Jets and Packers finally agreed to the trade just days before the 2023 NFL Draft.  A number of former Green Bay Packers have followed Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.  Those names include Nathaniel Hackett (even though he arrived in New York before Rodgers), Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, and Billy Turner.  Recently one other former Aaron Rodgers teammate talked about wanting to team up with Rodgers again.  However, that teammate could possibly find his way back to Lambeau Field.

Jonathan Delray with Bleacher Report announced a proposal for the Green Bay Packers to bring back a star to Laambau Fiel.  Green Bay would be reuniting with Davante Adams, now 30 years old.  According to Mark Powell:

Raiders: Davante Adams doesn’t sound happy in Las Vegas

“They (the front office) think this is the best bet for us right now to put us in a position to be urgent. We don’t see eye-to-eye on what we think is best for us right now,” Adams said, per The Ringer. “If we play a certain brand of ball, I can get [Garoppolo] to conform to whatever. But if we use him a certain type of way, then it’s going to make it tough for us to maximize who we should be this year.”

Adams doesn’t sound happy about the Raiders long-term vision. With Carr, he was playing with a former Pro Bowler and MVP candidate. Not to mention, it was one of his best friends. That made leaving a future Hall of Famer like Aaron Rodgers all the more tolerable.

Now, with Rodgers traded to the New York Jets — a move the Raiders reportedly did not consider despite his connection with Adams — one has to wonder what the hell happened to this former dynamic duo?

Either way, Adams isn’t happy. That much is clear.

The proposed trade by Delray would look like this:

    Green Bay Packers Receive:

    • Wide Receiver Davante Adams

    Las Vegas Raiders Receive:

    • OT Yosh Nijman
    • 2024 Second Round Draft Pick
    • 2024 Third Round Draft Pick

The Green Bay Packers are guaranteed two second round draft picks in 2024, which could easily become two first round draft picks if Aaron Rodgers plays at least 65% of the snaps in 2023.  Giving up a third-round pick and Nijman would seem like a steal to get Jordan Love a star weapon.

According to Over The Cap, Davante Adams is under contract through the 2026 season.  A post-June 1st trade will give the Las Vegas Raiders a much more manageable dead cap hit.  However, Russ Ball would certainly need to move some things around on Green Bay’s side to make the salary cap work around Adams’ massive contract.
