The Green Bay Packers, just like the rest of the NFL, are in the midst of the 2023 off-season. While free-agency doesn’t officially begin until Wednesday, legal tampering is fully underway. The Green Bay Packers had a total of 14 free agents heading into the 2023 off-season. They now sit at 13 after re-signing All-Pro Keisean Nixon. As it turns out, there is one free-agent wide receiver who wants to play in 2023. Randall Cobb will officially return for the 2023 season.
Randall Cobb Says He Wants To Play In 2023

According to Bill Huber:
Green Bay Packers receiver Randall Cobb, who is among the team’s 14 unrestricted free agents, intends to play in 2023, a source told Packer Central on Monday.
Cobb caught 34 passes in 13 games last season. He missed four midseason games with an ankle injury but returned for the stretch run. He recently had surgery that, as NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported, would allow him to play pain-free in 2023 should he decide he wanted to play
Cobb had this to say regarding his future:
“I don’t know why you’re all acting like I’m geriatric,” Cobb said with a smile after the New England game. “I’m not in a nursing home. This is the best I’ve felt since I was like 29.”
According to Ian Rapoport, Green Bay Packers receiver Randall Cobb had surgery on his ankle “to fix a persisting issue.” The hope is this surgery will allow Cobb to be the healthiest he has been in a while.
Randall Cobb was originally brought back by the Packers in 2021 when Rodgers specifically asked for him to join the roster. As we enter the 2023 off-season, Aaron Rodgers’ future on the team is uncertain. If Rodgers doesn’t return, it is likely that Cobb won’t either.
Last season, Cobb missed about a month of the regular season due to a high ankle sprain, which is likely what led to this surgery. Rapoport stated that the surgery “will help him be pain free.” High ankle sprains are famously one of the more painful injuries that football players commonly face. Cobb is on the list of significant contributors from the 2022 season who are currently set to hit the open market. Tight ends Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis and fellow receiver Allen Lazard also make up that list. With free agency starting in a little over a week, the Green Bay Packers have finally enough cap space to start considering re-signing their own.
