After getting suspended in Week 5’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs can make his return to action this coming Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at home. Green Bay suspended Doubs for conduct detrimental to the team, but that is behind the Packers now, as they look to sustain their momentum.
Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson shares take on Romeo Doubs
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Packers wideout Christian Watson acknowledged the situation amid Doubs’ return following a suspension but also said that he believes things will just be fine eventually.
Via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
“I think two days isn’t gonna ruin the three years of work and commitment he’s put in for us,” said Watson, who was drafted to the Packers with Doubs in 2022. “It’ll definitely be a little weird right away just because it was a pretty significant situation for him, but I mean, he’s Rome to us. I think it’ll blow by pretty quick and we’ll all be right back to how we were … There will probably be a few bumps in the road trying to get that togetherness and that family feeling back, but at the end of the day, he’s back in the building and I know that his goal is also to win a football game this week.”
With Doubs seemingly back, the hope is that he’ll be able to contribute to the Packers’ offense. But it can also be a challenge for him to stay happy if he doesn’t get enough looks downfield. With Jordan Love healthy again and the Packers going back to being a pass-heavy team, perhaps Doubs can see more touches, beginning in the Cardinals game.
On the season, Doubs has 169 receiving yards on just 12 catches and 20 targets through four appearances.
