Green Bay Packers Linked to 6-Foot-1 Cornerback With 4 Interceptions

The Green Bay Packers have built a roster that has few pressing needs as the 2025 NFL Draft nears, but one premium position remains in focus on defense.

Given that All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander could be playing elsewhere this fall, and even after signing Nate Hobbs in the early stages of free agency, the Packers could look to prioritize adding an upgrade in the secondary early on in the upcoming Draft.

Replacing Alexander, either in 2025 or in the near future has to be near the top of the Packers’ to-do list in the 2025 NFL Draft.

In NFL Media analyst Gennaro Filice’s latest mock draft projection, the Packers tab Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos with the No. 23 overall pick.

“The continuing uncertainty surrounding Jaire Alexander makes corner a need in Green Bay,” Felice Writes. “Frankly, even if Alexander and the Packers are able to work things out and stay together in 2025 — a possibility GM Brian Gutekunst recently raised — the 28-year-old has missed double-digit games in three of the last four seasons, further underscoring the need to fortify the position. With good size and coverage versatility, Amos is the type of CB the Pack typically target. And his 4.43 40 in Indy alleviated any potential speed concerns.”

Adding Amos, 6-foot-1 and 182 pounds, who has the requisite length that defensive coordinators covet when building out their secondaries, could give the Packers a speed demon on the perimeter, after Amos ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.43 seconds at the NFL COmbine.

Last season, Amos intercepted three passes, while breaking up 13 more on his way to posting a career-high 50 total tackles.

Given Green Bay’s need to add playmakers in the secondary and begin planning for life after Alexander, Amos could be a prospect in focus for Gutekunst and the Packers on draft night.
