The Green Bay Packers are only in their second week of training camp, but Family Night is already this Saturday. Next week is the first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. While there is still time for players to get back into the swing of things, there are players that have been very impressive early on. Here are four Green Bay Packers players who are having a great start to camp.
Green Bay Packers Standouts- Rashan Gary

Coming off a fresh contract extension last year and a year coming back from a torn ACL, Rashan Gary was dominating the practice field especially the first week of camp. Green Bay Packers media members brought up multiple times how often he would beat a player like Andre Dillard to the quarterback.
It’s becoming clear that Gary is beginning to take a leadership role on the defense as well. Sometimes it’s hard to believe he’s been in the league since 2018. After learning from players like Preston Smith and Z’Darius Smith, Gary is one of the veterans on his defense alongside Kenny Clark. When he’s practicing well, I’m sure it’s contagious with the rest of the defense to step their game up too. So far a good start for the Green Bay Packers stud edge rusher.
Romeo Doubs

After Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed broke out as rookies last year, it felt like Romeo Doubs was forgotten about a little bit. Doubs has acted as the security blanket for Jordan Love. He is not as explosive as Wicks, Reed, and Christian Watson, but his game is really smooth, has good hands, and always finds a way to get open.
Over the last few days, Doubs have been dominating Jaire Alexander in 1 on 1’s. It’s also important to note some of these reps were solid coverage by Alexander, but Doubs has gone up and made a ton of plays over the last few days. The talk among Green Bay Packers fans is who is the number one receiver on the team. You could make a case for any of the top four, but I think Doubs is the security blanket of the group. When you have to make a play and need it now, I would feel most comfortable getting the ball to Romeo Doubs.
Dontayvion Wicks

I am interested to see how Dontayvion Wicks will do in his second year. Over the course of his rookie year, we could see he was getting comfortable on the field and continued to make plays. This included a touchdown in the Wild Card game against Dallas.
In the early portions of training camp, Love has been able to find Wicks what seems to be any time he wants. I feel like all I see on camp updates is Love finding Wicks time and time again. Wick has even drawn an NFL comparison to Davante Adams, according to former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith. If Wicks carries this momentum into this season, he could very well be the best receiver on this Green Bay Packers roster.
Anthony Johnson Jr.

After the Green Bay Packers drafted Javon Bullard, Evan Williams, and Kitan Oladapo, the roster sport for Anthony Johnson Jr became a little foggy. Add in the free agency addition of Xavier McKinney, it didn’t look like there would be room on the roster for him.
However, Johnson Jr started a majority of mini camp practices next to McKinney. It was early, but still worth noting. As a result, Johnson Jr has been taking advantage of the opportunities and has carried that into training camp.
I still expect Bullard to be the second starting safety next to McKinney, but Anthony Johnson Jr is making a strong case to not only make the 53 man roster, but almost being an essential lock to make it.
