The Green Bay Packers are headed into an uncertain 2023 season. They have moved on from their franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers and handed the keys to third-year quarterback Jordan Love. The Green Bay Packers have a number of younger weapons at their disposal. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs proved during the 2022 season that they have a bright future in this league. That being said, the Packers could benefit from an experienced veteran pass catcher. As it turns out, they have been named in a massive trade that swaps one of their own for a pro bowl wide receiver.
Green Bay Packers Named In Massive Trade That Lands Wide Receiver Hunter Renfroe
According to an article by Jonathan Delray of Bleacher Report:
“Hunter Renfrow could be a worthwhile addition,” Delray said. “In 2022, of course, we know the Raiders made this world of changes and Renfrow didn’t exactly do well with it. He played in only 10 games, he was injury-hampered all year … just not the same guy. And rumors have persisted that he’s going to be a post-June 1 trade [candidate].”
The Raiders are looking specifically for a right guard. [Runyan] is entering the last year of his contract,” Delray continued. “[The Packers] have been continuing to talk about Zach Tom even more being an interior lineman, that he’s going to compete at center, right guard and right tackle — wherever [he] can fit in for their best five. So if you want to ship off Jon Runyan to the Raiders, it’s possible.”
As Max Dible pointed out, the trade likely wouldn’t be a one for one swap. The proposed trade would look something like this:
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- Wide Receiver Hunter Renfrow
Las Vegas Raiders Receive:
- Offensive Lineman Jon Runyan
- 2024 Fourth-Round Draft Pick
Additionally, Dible pointed out that the Las Vegas Raiders would probably need to send the Packers a couple million dollars for the deal to make sense. Renfrow will carry a cap hit of roughly $11 million for Green Bay next season should the franchise acquire him. The 27-year-old wide receiver is entering the final season of a two-year contract worth north of $32.3 million in total.
