As final roster cuts quickly approach, the Green Bay Packers look towards the preseason to see who is hot and who is not. Whether it be reordering the depth chart or sending players to the waiver wire, each preseason game is vital for the 2024 season. Heading into the Green Bay Packers preseason game versus the Denver Broncos, coaches and fans will have their eyes on a few players in particular.

#3 | Green Bay Packers Rookie Evan Williams Looks To Keep Hot Streak

Evan Williams started five seasons at safety in college between Fresno State and Oregon before being drafted by the Green Bay Packers with the 111th pick in the 2024 draft. Evan Williams has been shining in training camp, displaying a knack for finding the ball.

Now Evan Williams with his second pick in as many days. This one out jumping Dontayvion wicks on a 50/50 ball in the end zone. To be fair probably thrown more to Williams but still a great play by the rookie safety.

Going into his first preseason matchup against the Cleveland Browns, Williams had forced a turnover in three consecutive practices. With a forced fumble on a textbook tackle, he extended that streak into the preseason.

Along with the forced fumble, Williams allowed only 14 receiving yards on 15 coverage snaps and was credited with the highest coverage grade among rookie safeties per PFF. There is no doubt Evan Williams aims to continue his hot preseason versus his former teammate Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.

#2 | Sean Clifford Tries To Secure QB2 Role

Setting the Penn State all-time wins record for a QB, Sean Clifford was drafted in the fifth round by the Packers in 2023. Sean Clifford had an impressive preseason with the Green Bay Packers, earning him the QB2 spot in the 2023-24 season. Displaying many productive traits as a backup QB, It seemed as though Clifford may be Love’s career partner.

After a shaky start to training camp and the emergence of newly drafted Micheal Pratt, it’s clear Clifford’s position is not safe.

Jordan Love will not play anymore in the preseason, giving Sean Clifford likely a full half of football versus the Denver Broncos to secure his backup spot behind Love.

#1 | Will Kicker Anders Carlson Stay Perfect?

While Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia looks on, Green Bay Packers place kicker Anders Carlson and punter Daniel Whelan (19) warm up before their game against the New Orleans Saints Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.Mark Hoffman/Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

The Green Bay Packers 2023 season came to an end with a three-point loss in the NFC divisional round of the playoffs. Those three points could have been converted by rookie kicker Anders Carlson with a four-quarter attempt to extend the then lead to seven.

Coming off of an extremely inconsistent rookie year, including six missed field goals and five missed extra points, Carlson is attempting to give the Green Bay Packers a more consistent presence in his sophomore year. In his first outing against the Cleveland Browns, Carlson shot perfectly with two field goals and one extra point. If he can continue the perfection through preseason, he may secure the starting job.
