The Green Bay Packers have been one of the more successful franchises over the past decade and have had some very good players over that time period. They haven’t won a Super Bowl in that time period, and last won it all in the 2010-2011 season against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.
Green Bay has been very good offensively up until this season from the transition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. The Packers are 3-5 this season and are currently on track to miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season after having an 8-9 record a season ago. Who are three of the top offensive players for this franchise over the past decade?
Aaron Rodgers, Quarterback
Some people believe that Aaron Rodgers could very well be the best quarterback that the franchise has ever had over Brett Favre and Bart Starr. Rodgers has won several MVPs throughout his NFL career. He spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packer before being traded to the New York Jets this past offseason.
Since 2013, Aaron Rodgers threw for 30 plus touchdowns, five touchdowns, and threw for 40 plus touchdowns twice. In 2016, he threw for 40 touchdowns and 48 touchdowns during the 2020 regular season. Rodgers will have his number retired by the Green Bay Packers when the time comes.
He threw 12 interceptions in 2022, and the last time he threw double-digit interceptions was 11 during the 2010-2011 season when they won the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers having single interception numbers throughout the course of each season was ridiculous.
Jordy Nelson, Wide Receiver
Jordy Nelson was recently inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. From 2013-2017, Nelson was viewed as one of the top wide receivers in the NFL. He missed the entire 2015 season with a torn ACL. Aaron Rodgers loved the connection with Jordy Nelson, and Rodgers was one of the reasons why Nelson turned into the receiver he did.
In 2013, he had 1,314 yards receiving; in 2014, he had 1,519 yards receiving; and in 2016, he had 1,257 yards receiving the year after he returned from a torn ACL for the Green Bay Packers. Jordy Nelson led the league in 2016 with receiving touchdowns with 14.
He was not a first-round pick and was selected 36th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. Nelson was always a great route runner and never dropped any passes.
Davante Adams, Wide Receiver
Davante Adams struggled from 2014-2017 for the Green Bay Packers, but he emerged as one of the top wide receivers when he finally got it all together. He had a case of dropped passes, but Adams and Aaron Rodgers kept working at it. From 2018-2021, he had over 1350 yards receiving in three of four seasons. The only time it didn’t happen in that stretch was in 2019, when he had 997 yards receiving.
Adams had 111 receptions or more in three of those four seasons as well. He also led the league in touchdown receptions in 2020 with 18 touchdowns. The Green Bay Packers were the number-one seed in the NFC that season before losing to the fifth-seed Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game.
Davante Adams is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL despite being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the Las Vegas Raiders during the 2022 NFL offseason. Adams is still highly regarded by Packers fans.
