Former Green Bay Packers QB Signs with Tennessee Titans for 2025

One of the biggest storylines of the NFL offseason has been where former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play in 2025. That is, if he decides to play at all. Currently, the Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be the only team interested in signing the four-time NFL MVP after former Wisconsin Badgers star Russell Wilson signed with the New York Giants.

However, one other former Packers quarterback has also been a free agent since the offseason began. Tim Boyle, who was Rodgers’ backup for several years with the Packers and New York Jets, has finally found a new home.

According to multiple NFL insiders, Boyle has been signed by the Tennessee Titans on a one-year deal:

Titans have signed veteran quarterback Tim Boyle, who has spent six NFL seasons with the Packers, Lions, Bears, Jets, Texans, Dolphins and Giants.

Boyle joins a quarterback room that includes former second round pick Will Levis and former San Francisco 49ers backup Brandon Allen.

Entering his seventh NFL season, Boyle’s stint with Tennessee marks the beginning of his tenure with his eighth NFL franchise.

As Adam Schefter notes, in addition to the Packers, Boyle has played for the Jets, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, and New York Giants.

However, he also spent some time on the Houston Texans practice squad in 2023.

Boyle has appeared in 23 games throughout the course of his NFL career, having completed 60.5% of his passes for 1,210 yards, five touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. He was one of the multiple quarterback the Jets tried out to replace Rodgers when he went down with a torn Achilles in 2023.

Boyle originally signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He spent his rookie season on the practice squad before being promoted to Rodgers’ back in 2019. He served in that role in 2020 as well despite the fact that Green Bay had selected Jordan Love in the first round of the NFL Draft that year.
