Green Bay Packers Doing Work on the Tight End Class

The Green Bay Packers have been doing their homework on the 2023 tight end class. Mayer is the fourth tight end the Packers have hosted to a top 30 visit. The team has also hosted Darnell Washington, Dalton Kincaid and Ben Sims as well. Mayer is considered one of the best tight end prospects in the class.
Mayer ran a 4.7-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. His vertical jump was measured at 32.5″. Mayer had a RAS score of 8.8 which ranked 10th amongst tight ends in this class.
Notre Dame Career
In three years at Notre Dame, Mayer had 2,099 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns. Mayer was very productive in college and tight end is a position of need for the Packers as they try to surround Jordan Love with weapons. His 2022 was good enough to have him named Consensus All-American.
His 2022 season was the best of his three in college. He had nine touchdowns and 809 receiving yards in his final season at Notre Dame. With 67 receptions he averaged 12.1 yards per reception in his final collegiate season.
