Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff (16), left, shakes hands with running back David Montgomery (5) to celebrate after Montgomery scores a touchdown against Green Bay Packers during the first half at Ford Field in Detroit on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024.

The Green Bay Packers were in trouble early as Lions running back David Montgomery found his way to the end zone on the opening drive trailing early 7-0. The Lions extended their lead 10-0 off of a fumbled ball by Packers wide receiver Christian Watson which resulted in a 43-yard field goal by kicker Jake Bates.

The Packers get on the board with a Josh Jacobs touchdown after the defensive pass interference on Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold. Green Bay trimmed the lead 10-7.

Jahmyr Gibbs scored while the Lions converted on 4th down

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (26) makes a catch for a touchdown against Green Bay Packers during the first half at Ford Field in Detroit on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024.

The Lions went for it on 4th-and-goal to close the first half and quarterback Jared Goff found running back Jahmyr Gibbs for the score. Detroit led 17-7 at halftime.

Not only did the Lions outplay the Green Bay Packers in the first half, but they outcoached them on both sides of the ball. The Packers need to give Jordan Love more protection, and the defense needs to make some adjustments.

Tucker Kraft sparked momentum for Green Bay when he scored the TD

Jordan Love hits tight end Tucker Kraft with a strike in the red zone and the Packers have cut the Lions lead to just three after a slow start in the first half. Green Bay capitalized on a Jared Goff interception as Josh Jacobs ran it in for a touchdown, giving the Packers their first lead of the game at 21-17.

The Detroit Lions were clinging to a 24-21 lead with one quarter left to go. They were 3/3 on 4th down conversions before that questionable decision on 4th and 1.

Jake Bates hit the game winning field goal to give Lions the victory

The Packers had every chance to stop them and every chance to score. Lions Kicker Jake Bates kicked a field goal on a crucial 4th down, and Lions scored tds on two 4th downs.

The Packers had too many unforced errors despite having a good 2nd half. They should have played better in the first half. Green Bay also had the same number of penalties as the Lions so they cannot blame the refs.

It has a heated back and forth battle as both teams took turns retaking the lead from each other. Lions were the better football team last night as went go on an 11-game winning streak.
