The Green Bay Packers could be going from trading away Aaron Rodgers, to a legitimate Super Bowl contender in just one full season. The Packers are picked by many as a dark-horse candidate to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LIX on February 9th, 2025.
There will be one former player who will be watching the Jordan Love era from afar, permanently.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Announces Retirement
Former NFL wide receiver Tavon Austin has announced his retirement via Instagram:
Austin last played an NFL game in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, despite working out for the Seattle Seahawks last year. Over the course of his nine-year NFL career, Austin caught 244 passes for 2,239 yards and 16 touchdowns. On special teams, he has scored three touchdowns and gained nearly 2,000 return yards. He has also rushed for 1,361 yards and scored 10 touchdowns.
One of the most explosive players in college football, he leads WVU’s all-purpose yardage record and was been named an All-America selection on multiple occasions. He’s the only player in the history of the sport to score a touchdown on a rush, catch, punt return and kick return in the same season.
In addition to his time with the Rams, he played for the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills.
Our best wishes for Austin’s retirement go out to him.
