The Green Bay Packers had a much better result in Week 2 at home against the Indianapolis Colts. Green Bay won without Jordan Love against Indianapolis by a final score of 16-10.
Malik Willis won the game as the starting quarterback. He was the Tennessee Titans quarterback for a couple of games last season. Willis was acquired via trade from Tennessee a few weeks ago. The running game and the defense helped the Packers out in this game.
Green Bay Packers Defense Has Almost More Interceptions Than They Did a Season Ago
In Week 1, the Packers defense picked off Jalen Hurts two times. They struggled to stop him and Saquon Barkley on the ground. On Sunday, they picked off Anthony Richardson three times. Green Bay has five interceptions already this season. In 2023, they only had seven total interceptions. This is a step in the right direction with the new defensive scheme.
The Green Bay Packers defense still has some room to improve this season. However, it has promise and will need to play at a high level until Jordan Love returns from injury.
Xavier McKinney Was An Excellent Signing
One of the best things that the Packers did this offseason was signing safety Xavier McKinney in free agency. A lot of New York Giants fans are upset that they lost him and didn’t bring him back. The Giants are 0-2 and have not been good on defense. New York does not have an interception yet this season.
The Green Bay Packers defense has already forced a ton of turnovers. McKinney was the best safety on the free agent market this offseason. He is a big part of this defense and will need to continue to prove his money’s worth.
